“A dialogue between two friends about the advantages and disadvantages of money”

Misti: Hi Shapla, how are you?

Shapla:I am fine and you?

Misti:I am fine. What are you doing?

Shapla:I am preparing an assignment about the  advantages and disadvantages of money.

Misti: What is the advantages of money?

Shapla:I think Money is the medium used by people to buy required goods or services. It is used as the

            source to fulfill basic needs as well as source of comfort in life. Money is the most important

            source to live a healthy and prosperous life. However cannot be compared by the importance of

            love  and care.

Misti: Anything else?

Shapla: Money is important because it means less financial worries. Money is important because it

             enables  you to give back to your community, to pick the charities and causes you believe in and

            support  them. Money is important because having money means that life is not a constant effort at

            keeping  your head above the water.

Misti: Any other advantages of money?

Shapla: If you have the money, see the enormous advantages…….. You can get an academic degree

             without having the proper qualification for it.  You can get an appointment in Government

             Service, even when you are far behind the achievers.  You can get recruited in the defence

             forces.  If you are in service, you can get a posting to a city or place of your heart’s desire.  If  

             you are  engaged in law suit, you can get the tables turned to your side. Happiness comes from

             fulfillment of physical, emotional, and mental needs. So, money is only one of the resources that

             is needed for happiness.

Misti: Ok, now tell me the disadvantages of money.

Shapla: Happiness is more important than money because happiness is the end, while money is just a part

             of the means to achieve happiness. Money is very good as long as it is in your pocket. But it

             becomes very dangerous, when it goes to your head.

Misti: Very nice. Then?

Shapla: Money is not an unmixed blessing. Total dependence or misuse of money may lead to undesirable

             and harmful results. In the words of Robertson, “Money, which is a source of so many blessings to

             mankind, becomes also, unless we can control it, a source of peril and confusion.

Misti: Oh! money may be the means of unhappiness,

Shapla: If you have much money, you will be cut off from your near and dear ones. You will suspect

            everyone that he/she wants your money. You are all the time scared lest you may not lose your

             money. You will  lose your peace of mind because you want to become richer .You start cheating

              and manipulating things so as to save more money illegally
