“A dialogue Between Two Friends on Information Technology”

Auntora: Hello Mashiat ! How are you?

Mashiat: I am fine. What about you?

Auntora: I am fine too. I congratulate you on your brilliant result. Now tell me about the uses and abuses of modern

Technology. Because, my ICT teacher has given me a task to write an assignment on the uses and abuses of modern Technology. 

Mashiat:  Oh, I see! In fact, it is an interesting subject on what you are given a task to write an assignment.

Auntora: I think there are no abuses of modern Technology. But my teacher has said that there are some abuses of it.  But, he did not described.

Mashiat: Our society as well as our daily life is now modern technology based. We can not think of  our life without the uses of modern technology. But there are some persons who are misusing modern technology.

Auntora: Tell me the uses of modern technology.

Mashiat:  There are many uses of modern technology. The modern irrigation technologies has helped to cultivate lands. The agriculture equipment such as tractor helps the farmer in his farming. Large industries make   good use of engineering technology for large scale production of goods. Technology has positively    impacted business activities involving manufacturing, selling, marketing, distribution, recording, etc.

Auntora:  Anything else on the uses of Technology?

Mashiat:  The clothes we wear, the house we live, the car we travel, the bridge and flyovers, the mobile phone we carry, the fan, etc. are all examples of successful implementation of technology. Virtual classes are a delivered at many schools. E-learning is a relatively new concept. Students make use of internet technology  to download important study materials in the form of text, audio and videos. Technology has    revolutionized the healthcare industry. The various diagnostic tools such as x-ray machines, blood pressure  monitoring machine, glucose level measuring machine, etc. has made possible accurate diagnosis of health  related problems.

Auntora: Now tell me about the abuses of it.

Mashiat: Too much use of technology has resulted in an increase in waste products into the environment. This has caused pollution. The discharge of industrial wastes into the environment diminishes the quality of soil, water, air , etc.

Auntora:Anything else on the abuses of Technology?

Mashiat:  Yes, Some people waste immense time and energy in doing non-productive activities. For example, internet technology has enabled people to browse the internet for information. However, some people get addicted to internet activities such as browsing, gaming, etc., and waste time and energy. Thus, science  which was very advantageous in the initial age of scientific inventions and discoveries later turned out to  be equally disastrous for mankind. It appears that the day is not far when the entire humanity would have to suffer a lot due to the evils of science. The need of the hour is that man should be very rational in the  use of scientific inventions and technological advancements.
