But the cruelty could not defeat her spirit. She has come out as a winner, defying all the odds of life.

Reading Test (Unseen Passage)
Read the following text carefully and answer question 4 and 5.
Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was born on 26 September, 1820 at the village of Birsingha, in the district of Paschim Medinipur. He was an Indian Bengali polymath and a leading figure of the Bengali Renaissance. He was a philosopher, writer, translator, reformer, and philanthropist. His efforts to simplify and modernise Bengali prose were significant. He also rationalised and simplified the Bengali alphabet. He received the title ‘Vidyasagar’ from Sanskrit College, Kolkata, due to his excellent performance in Sanskrit studies and philosophy. He initiated the concept of widow remarriage and raised concern for the abolition of child-marriage and polygamy. He also opened the doors of the colleges and other educational institutions to lower caste students, which was earlier reserved only for the Brahmins. This great soul died on 29 July, 1891.                           [Open source]
